Amenities
Mweenish is situated in the Connemara Gaeltacht where the
Irish language is spoken daily. The area is steeped in ancient
culture and tradition agus is renowned for its traditional sean-nós
singers and musicians. Among the other traditions still alive
and well in this area is that of the skilled boat-makers.
We are also fortunate
that the National University of Ireland, Galway has located its
centre 'Arás Shorcha Ní Ghuairim' in Carna and is now in the process of
archiving material from our strong tradition
of folklore and storytelling.
